Outdoor Preparedness for Tick & Bug Season
This Outdoor Preparedness Bundle is designed specifically for routine preparation before spending time in tick- and biting-insect-prone environments such as trails, wooded areas, tall grass, gardens and campsites.
The bundle combines two botanical outdoor sprays, Rock Rose herbal tea and a sturdy lidded mug for a practical outdoor routine for people who hike, camp, garden, work outside or spend time exploring with their pets. The individual products remain distinct formulations, each with its own ingredients, directions, precautions and appropriate route of use.
Bundle includes:
- Rock Rose Trail Companion Spray : An external-use botanical mist made with rock rose (Cistus incanus), distilled water, grain alcohol and sulfinylbismethane. It is intended for light application to clean, dry, intact skin and compatible clothing or outdoor gear. Current directions also permit light application to a pet’s clean outer coat while avoiding the eyes, nose, mouth and genital area.
- Tick Away Herbal Spray: A water-based citrus-herbal aromatic mist made with lemongrass floral water, witch hazel and essential oils. Current directions specify use on clothing, footwear, hats, packs and other outdoor gear. Tick Away Herbal Spray is not for use on pets.
- Rock Rose (Cistus incanus) Herb Tea: A loose botanical herb for hot-water preparation. The current product directions use a brief boil followed by a covered simmer to prepare the tea.
- Yummy.doctor Mug: A sturdy mug with a fitted natural-bamboo lid. The lid helps keep the drink warm and is especially handy outdoors for covering your tea between sips.
Understanding Tick & Insect-Bite Prevention
Ticks are commonly encountered around wooded and brushy areas, tall grass, trail edges and similar outdoor environments. Their bites can be difficult to notice because ticks are small and their bites are often painless. Mosquitoes and other biting insects are also common during outdoor activities and may be more active at particular times of day or seasons.
Best results achieved by using a layered approach to bite prevention: wear long sleeves and pants, closed-toe shoes and light-coloured clothing; stay on cleared trails where practical; check yourself, children, pets, clothing and gear after outdoor activities; shower after returning indoors; and use an appropriate insect-repellent when required.
